As these particular times of uncertainty cannot be repressed with a single certainty, I decided to look closer at a side project I had in mind for some time.
If there’s ever another food industry I am passionate about as much as chocolate is undoubtedly that of edible nuts and oilseeds—I am an even more consistent consumer of nuts than chocolate! From pistachios and hazelnuts to almonds, walnuts, etc., I could give up on other ‘non-essentials’ besides chocolate, but not nuts. And since nuts represent an evergreen inclusion complementary to the taste and texture and chocolate, here I am to discern a couple of good reasons to consider them now:
- unlike chocolate, coffee, wine, tea, etc., competition in the edible nut arena is still close to zero. (A nut tasting language, anyone?)
- likewise chocolate and cacao, nuts are shelf-stable and don’t require any cooking or complicated preliminaries for tasting.
I don’t know where this path will take me, but that’s what I will stick to in the coming days, hopefully renewing my mission as a #FineChocolateAdvocate.
